About Ross Rubin, JD

Ross Rubin, JD is an experienced advocate for physicians at the federal and state levels. A member of the American Medical Association’s legislative team from 1976 to 2005, he most recently served as vice president for legislative affairs.

A native of the Chicago area and a graduate of Michigan State University and the University of Illinois law school, Ross worked for the Illinois Pollution Control Board and the Illinois Department of Business and Economic Development before joining the AMA.

Ross served as secretary of the AMA’s Council on Legislation, was responsible for much of the AMA’s policy development on Medicare, and followed legislative developments that impacted physicians’ practices. He developed testimony for hundreds of congressional hearings at which he wrote testimony, briefed and served as counsel to witnesses. He also was responsible for many of the AMA’s responses to rules proposed for inclusion in federal regulations.

He previously was a member of the board of directors of the American Tort Reform Association, a Washington, D.C.-based organization dedicated to civil justice reform. At the AMA, Ross has been responsible for policy development on medical liability reform, and has assisted state medical associations as they have sought reforms within their states.
